World's Smallest Sensor Tip Pressure-Volume Catheter

 

Millar Instruments, Inc. developer and manufacturer of Mikro-Tip(R) pressure transducer catheters and pressure-volume (P-V) systems, today announced the expansion of its 1 French catheter line with the introduction of the PVR-1045 pressure-volume catheter.

With a catheter tip size of 1F (1/3 mm), the PVR-1045 is the smallest and least invasive sensor tip pressure-volume catheter available on the market.

Robot gunships join US Army

 
The march of the killer droids continues, with news that a US robot helicopter gunship has passed a significant milestone - engine testing.

This success means the robot can head for production - once avionics and sensors arrive. The cyber-copter in question is the RQ/MQ-8 vertical takeoff and landing tactical unmanned air vehicle (VTUAV) commonly known as "Fire Scout".

FLOATING WIND TURBINES IN THE NORTH SEA

 
While our oceans house not only diverse ecologies and possibly the lost city of Atlantis, they now have something else to brag about: serving as prime real estate for some very renewable energy. Norwegian energy group Norsk Hydro is to place giant floating wind turbines in the North Sea that will provide a reasonable, environmentally-friendly and economically feasible alternative to standard energy generation processes.

EPRI-NRDC Report Finds Environmental Benefits of Deploying PHEVs

 
PALO ALTO, Calif. – July 19, 2007 – The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) today released a comprehensive assessment that found that widespread use of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) in the United States could reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and potentially improve ambient air quality.
