Is this a hoax? Something about it just doesn't seem right. Anyways, the theory goes that when you hit this material it becomes hard and absorbs the force. In the video the guy is being hit, with what looks to be a fair amount of force, with a shovel and doesn't flinch.
If this is indeed not a hoax then this Reactive Polymer Gel has some great uses as far as OH&S goes.

It's always difficult reporting a story like this - very sad - lets hope that learnings come from it to prevent a re occurence When fire broke out deep underground at a hydroelectric plant in the Rockies , officials at the surface dropped a radio down to five trapped men in a tunnel and were relieved to learn they were OK. |
