Oxygen-from-Moon-dirt passes vomit comet test

 
American boffins say they have developed a viable process for making oxygen out of moon dirt, which could allow humans to live for long periods in lunar bases. The new tech has been tried out under the equivalent of the moon's one-sixth-G gravity aboard NASA's famous "vomit comet" low-gee simulator plane.

POSCO adopts safety technology at Korean steel plant

 
POSCO , one of the world’s largest steel makers, and IBM on September 24 announced that they have deployed a workplace safety system that uses sensor technology to make POSCO’s FINEX production plant in Pohang, South Korea, safer for employees and visitors. With more than 500 employees, the FINEX plant has an annual production capacity of 1.5 million metric tons.

India - 31 die in accident at Balco's new plant at Korba

 
At least 31 people were crushed to death when an under-construction chimney at a new power plant being constructed at Bharat Aluminium Company (Balco) in Korba , 230 km from Raipur, collapsed on Wednesday afternoon. Another 40 people are feared trapped in the debris.

Forklifts hurt thousands, cost millions — safety expert

 

Forklifts have killed 56 people and injured thousands in the past two decades, according to a leading industrial safety expert.
Writing in materials handling industry safety magazine, Industry Uplift, WorkSafe Victoria inspector Roger Parry-Jones claims that the commercial cost of forklift incidents runs into tens of millions of dollars in insurance claims, fines from prosecutions and injury compensation payouts.


Now lets multiply that world wide - the figures are staggering
