As from next year, the South African subsidiary of motor company Toyota is expected to export its locally produced Toyota Corollas from Durban to Europe - a move set to boost the economy of KwaZulu-Natal, BuaNews reports.
The decision was taken following a meeting on Wednesday in Tokyo, Japan between the provincial government and Toyota representatives. |

Since 2001, the automotive navigation market has transformed from being dominated by embedded systems installed in cars to being virtually taken over by Personal Navigation Devices (PNDs), which are handheld devices users can carry with them, as well as use in their vehicles. |

LONDON (AFP) - Low-cost British clothing retailer Asda, owned by US giant Wal-Mart, has launched an investigation into allegations that its production facilities in Bangladesh were abusing the rights of their workers, The Guardian reported on Monday.
The newspaper, which interviewed workers from seven different factories in the country, said that the factories, which also supplied retailers Tesco and Primark, forced workers to work up to 84-hours a week for low wages under difficult conditions. |

DETROIT (AP) - Ford Motor Co. will put soybean-based foam cushions in the seats of the 2008 Mustang and may do the same with other models as well, eventually saving thousands of barrels of oil in the manufacturing process, the automaker said Thursday. Ford is teaming with supplier Lear Corp. to install the seats at a joint Mazda-Ford factory in Flat Rock, Mich., the company said. Most automakers use petroleum-based foam, with an average of 30 pounds going into each vehicle, Ford said. |

NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Nippon Steel Corp is not considering a capital tie-up with the world's largest steelmaker, ArcelorMittal, Nippon Steel president Akio Mimura said Thursday in an interview with The Nikkei in New York.
Asked about the memorandum of understanding that Nippon Steel signed with ArcelorMittal to strengthen their partnership, Mimura was quoted by the Nikkei newspaper as saying a key feature of this agreement is that the firms will work together in some areas but there will be competition in others. |

MUMBAI, India (AP) - Anheuser-Busch, the world's largest brewer, introduced an Indian-brewed Budweiser on Friday as part of the company's plan to tap into the country's booming economy, a top official said.
While India is one of the world's largest markets for spirits, it ranks near the bottom among beer-guzzling nations.
Anheuser-Busch, however, sees great potential in the country.

Nowadays, the world is all about mechanization. No matter where you
turn there is someone trying to figure out how to make something to
something else that way a person no longer has to do it. We as humans
are stuck on having things done for us. No matter what it is, we would
like to have a machine that would take care of it for us. In this day
and age there are already a lot of things that require very little from
us.
