If diethylene glycol is banned as poisonous , why do they allow polyethylene glycol to be sold in products to relieve constipation?

pretty simple really - if you've been poisoned, constipation is the last thing you will be worried about -
It aslo make me think about the answer to one of this weeks trivia questions - I won't reveal the answer to sacharin but quite a suprise to know what it is made from
