NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Nippon Steel Corp is not considering a capital tie-up with the world's largest steelmaker, ArcelorMittal, Nippon Steel president Akio Mimura said Thursday in an interview with The Nikkei in New York.
Asked about the memorandum of understanding that Nippon Steel signed with ArcelorMittal to strengthen their partnership, Mimura was quoted by the Nikkei newspaper as saying a key feature of this agreement is that the firms will work together in some areas but there will be competition in others.
