Why would engineers care about the age of a population?

Clipped to the Drawing Board by Ryan
Do you know what the population size or average age is for Vietnam?  Or what about Russia?  Or more to the point,  as an engineer,   does it really matter what they are?  Well Michael E. Marks reckons it does matter.  Apart from being an interesting topic to bring up at social gatherings it appears that these statistics can play an important part in where you would choose to manufacture your products from a long term perspective.

Which begs the question,  are you more than just a number?

This is very informative, however sometimes the maths can be wrong... anything can happen when humans are involved.
