'Space diving' to be latest extreme sport

Clipped to the Drawing Board by jackson Browne

Serious fun with an underlying target to design and engineer safety equipment for space travelers

Forget about bungee jumping and hang gliding. The next adrenaline pumping daredevil stunt will be hurtling back to Earth by "space diving," if entrepreneurs and extreme sports enthusiasts have their way.

I don't have a head for heights and am in awe of those who do - this is a fascinating subject - I guess that werther its 100 feet or 10,000 feet or ??? the initial step over the side is the same but......what an adrenalin rush. And then it becomes a job for the engineers charged with designing emergency egress equipment and procedures - if that is your thing - how good does life get !!

some more thoughts - the current record is ...."from an altitude of 20 miles, reaching a speed of around 700 miles per hour in his 13 minute descent to the ground." and that was set in 1960 - How do you start to design safety equipment for this ???

It must be quite a serreal experience stepping out of a plane or space ship at that height - like one of those dreams where you are floating - but then the real world would kick in and there are Pressures and Temperatures and G forces and an awful big mess when you hit the ground if something goes wrong
