Coming of age for 'future fibres'

In a subterranean laboratory at the centre of Cambridge, PhD student Juan Vilatela crouches beneath a furnace that is raging at a temperature of 1,300C.

This new type of carbon fibre , being developed at the University could be woven into super-strong body armour for the military and law enforcement.
