A portable toilet for use in traffic jams

Clipped to the Drawing Board by Yan Chu

There is always a solution to the simplest of problems - trust the engineers to arrive at an answer - and this is the answer to what must be an increasing problem for commuters

Kaneko Sangyo Co . Japan has developed a portable toilet ''Kurumarukun'' for use inside a car that totally conceals the user with a curtain.

This is great idea... but, you would need to own a rather large car to be able to use it. why didn't they just go before they left ?

I totally agree, I just wouldn't feel comfortable doing it in the back seat of a car with the chance that the curtain isn't quite on properly, or if it falls off. That would be quite a sight for other motorists!!! emoticon

Well what happens when the traffic starts moving ???

I guess that you need to get your timing right

I think that its an excellent idea and I'm surprised that it hasn't been done before - very practical

I have this vision of a gridlock traffic jam, looking around around seeing "straining faces" - but what happens if the traffic starts to move when your part way through ??
Toby () Newbie | 2007-10-29 03:53:26
That's why you carpool. Not only is it environmentally friendly but if the traffic starts moving again then someone else can step in and start driving.
Mark () Newbie | 2007-10-29 03:58:36
jeez, don't even consider that. Could you possibly stand to be in the same car as someone using one of these.
Jeremy () Newbie | 2007-10-29 03:59:13
hehe yeah, just better hope they hadn't had Indian the night before emoticon

lots of people could be very "relieved" that this was invented and I'll bet that the designers are "flushed" with their success - I hope that it doesn't get "panned" - I wonder if it was the "number 1" idea -
Sophi () Newbie | 2007-10-29 03:31:48
so let me get this right - a toilet, in the car !!!! - so how about a wash basin as well ?? - because you MUST wash your hands afterwards
LisaLisa () Newbie | 2007-10-29 03:36:02
I can see it as a "must have" accessory designed into next years models - could be a real marketing opportunity to leap ahead of the pack
Claire () Newbie | 2007-10-29 03:57:24
hell, american SUV's are getting big enough these days that you could just have a full blown toilet in there.

OK - Westerners sit and Orientals squat - do they design 2 basic types - like left hand drive and right hand drive autos
