Drug giant to pay out $5 billion

The pain killer to end all pain killers was just one big pain and a solution has finally been engineered

US PHARMACEUTICAL giant Merck & Co has agreed to pay $US4.85 billion ($5.24 billion) to end thousands of lawsuits over its painkiller Vioxx in what is believed to be the largest drug settlement ever.
