Airbus chief apologises for yet another delay in A380-programme

Clipped to the Drawing Board by jackson Browne
Airbus president and CEO Paul Enders has apologised for the inconvenience to the company's customers caused by the latest delay in deliveries of the A380 Superjumbo.

He stated that, in a review of the A380 programme the company had ascertained that, although a lot of progress had been made over the last 18 months, "we cannot avoid further incremental delay in [production] ramp-up in 2008/9".

Airbus now plans to deliver 12 A380s this year, instead of 13. Deliveries in 2009, will number 21 instead of 25. Details about production ramp-up and deliveries in 2010, and subsequent years, will be discussed with customers in the coming weeks.
