Salamander robot's walk holds key to spinal study

 

Scientists have built an amphibious robot to simulate the movements of the first four-legged creature that emerged from the sea to walk on land some 400 million years ago.

The robot walks and swims like a salamander, the living amphibian that is thought to most closely resemble the first fish-like amphibians to walk on land.
