How to Safely Blow Dusts Off Skin and Work Clothes
|
Use an Air Duster
It doesn't matter how hard you try to eliminate dust, there is often dust in the work place and that dust generally ends up on people and on clothing. Many workers use a standard compressed air blow gun to remove dusts from their clothing and skin.
This is generally a very effective method, but not recommended for numerous reasons, plus, if factory compressed air is applied directly to the skin, there is always the possibility of air embolism. Very simply, the compressed air is forced under the skin. I came across a very useful device for blowing dusts off skin and clothing, called an Air Duster, which is basically a hand held low pressure blower. It is designed specifically for this job and it's manufacturers claim that it meets all statutory safety requirements. There may be other brands and /or designs out there in the market place, but I purchased one of these and found it to be very good.
Note that the dust is blown into the adjacent atmosphere. I strongly suggest that the air duster is located close to extraction. Particularly if clothing is very dusty, because what is blown off, has to go somewhere. |
