I have worked in businesses which used SAP and businesses which didn't, so I feel confident to comment. SAP works with typical German efficiency and at a German price !!! - Ive seen many other businesses "limp" along with all manner of oddball systems. Will this move work for SAP ? - Who knows - they will certainly apply the same well tried principles - From an Engineering perspective I found the SAP Project Module was very good - because it was all about reporting and control measures - but keep SAP away from any other Engineering function particularly CMMS
