The World's Largest Land Vehicle

Clipped to the Drawing Board by Bob Smith

It's called MAN Takraf RB293 and it's the largest terrestrial vehicle in human history ,making the huge NASA Crawler that transports space shuttles to the launch pads look like a Volkswagen Beetle.

Bucket-wheel excavators are heavy machines used in the mining industry and civil engineering. They are also some of the largest vehicles ever built.

I guess it's an Engineering thing but seeing something like this just wants me to dig deeper. Who designed it, what was it based on, what cad software, calcs, design, maintenance procedures, what was good, what was not so good, what would they do different on the next one - the list is endless. Fascinating
