its also what you know "how" to do - and quite obviously these guys have the "know how" - I think its a good idea and obviously it works - I tend to get buried in "hands on" project engineering and maintenance engineering work and don't see the bigger picture - that is till I read an article like this

yeah, I'd rather be working hands on engineering - I get some exposure to the other side of the business - not a lot - and these guys live in a different world -
too much politics for me - where I work we all tell it the way we see it - colorful language is the norm - I always get myself into trouble with these guys by being too blunt and telling them what I think

I see your point Chuck - I used to be like you and then crossed over - so I see both sides - the biggest thing to get over is the bull dust - but thats everywhere - even on the factory floor - we are all links in a chain and each as important as the other - you know the drill - strong as the weakest link etc -

I get to do some work with these guys and the biggest problems I have is the lack of real world experience from the young guys - great to play with toys and have all of the theory - but will it work in the real world -

you're only seeing one small part of a much bigger picture the zoo is a good way to get exposure and get the public involved but the real value with these companies is the big picture - at the end of the day - "things" don't just happen - they need to be "made to happen" and this is where these guys earn their money by putting together the big big projects and looking at all of the "what if" options and thats what's going to keep companies and countries in front of the pack - you've got leaders and followers and the followers are copying the leaders at an ever increasing rate - so the leaders need to keep pushing forwards and innovating at a faster rate - and thats where these companies make the difference - its all about vision and ability to see, create and sell the vision
