Post election violence threatens Kenya growth

The World Bank has expressed grave concerns that if the unrest in parts of Kenya continues, this could seriously threaten the impressive economic gains and business opportunities which have been made and this would have the potential to spill over and damage the regional economies which depend on Kenya's status as an East African business hub.

The international lender said the aid agencies of leading western governments including the United States and Britain, plus the European Commission, shared its worries about the region's economies.  Kenya has long been seen as a safe haven in Africa compared to many of the more remote and lawless areas .
The turmoil caused financial markets in Nairobi to close early and the weekly tea and coffee auctions were postponed.

at the end of the day - there needs to be a system of law and order - otherwise these countries will never move forwards -

all countries can have a few problems -America, France even Australia had riots in Sydney a few years ago - so lets not get over judgemental - just yet

unfortunately it is a common story across all developing countries - there is a section of well educated people who are trying to go forwards and there are a lot more uneducated peasants who, for a variety of reasons - don't want change - I feel sorry for their plight - but don't know what the answer is
